This review is from: Smith Optics Scope Pro Goggle (Sports) It simply works great. I can see the snow well with the goggles in different light conditions. No problem with fogging. It has a flatter contour than most other goggles that I have tried. The material is fairly flexible so that it can fit different face shapes nicely.The lens came with a small leaflet to explain different lens models. Clear is “Category S0. Lens tint specifically designed for night conditions”. Sensor Mirror is “Category S1. Mirrored lens tint especially effective in flat & low light conditions”. RC36 and Ignitor Mirror are “Category S2. Multi-purpose mirrored lens tint for all-around light conditions”. The leaflet also has a light transmission chart for different tints and you can study the minute differences between them. I bought RC36 and tried Ignitor Mirror, Sensor Mirror briefly in store. RC36 gives a “normal” look while Ignitor Mirror gives a more contrasty look, and Sensor Mirror allows more light in general. Any of them should be a good choice for general purpose.The ones I saw in local store have microfiber pouch in it. The one I bought here (an RC36, the cheapest one does not have it. One piece of gear you should really consider is a good set of ski goggles. All considerations taken, you want a mix of barrier protection to protect from physical harm, some retinal protection from the massive glare off the snow, and some style thrown in as well. I took some advice from veteran slope bunnies and they all recommended some tint as you’ll be staring at white all day and it can throw off your ability to perceive details in the trails such as the grade of the slope, distance, or sudden changes in terrain.Here’s the skinny on the Smith Scope Airflow Goggles that I picked up from Amazon.Pros:-affordable. Very affordable especially if you don’t hit the slopes often enough to warrant higher dollar goggles such as Spy, Oakley, etc that start around $75 and keep going upward.-comfortable. From the adjustabale band, to the soft foam pad, this pair can easily fit around my melon with or without a hat.-durable. I haven’t snowboarded in over 7 years and this recent weekend trip will make a grand total of thrice so needless to say I wiped out alot and my goggles stayed on my face and no damage whatsoever.Cons:-still fogged up. On day 2, I noticed moisture was building through my knit hat and causing them to fog up. I borrowed someone’s defogger spray which remedied the situation for about 3-4hr intervals (it’s the same stuff paintballers use to clean their masks with) along with an MSR paktowel I keep tucked into my jacket.Caveats:-shipping. This detail irked me as an Amazon Prime member. When you have options listed for style/color combinations, sometimes this will change who the distributor is and how it qualifies under your account. Most of the other options were out and I went with sensor mirror/gunmetal (trust me you want some kind of tint or filter when on the slopes) and not only did I find out AFTER that it didn’t qualify for Prime 2-dayshipping, but I was charged $10 s/h and didn’t get my goggles until the night right before we left. This put my grand total back up to $50 which not-including the hassle, I would’ve just spent on higher quality gear.Shred the slopes, be safe. Enjoy.
