BKL BKL’s SCOPE MOUNTS Keep away from CROSSOVER WHEN SHOOTING AIR GUNS 22lr HMR RIFLES
Question by aldogtehotshoter: how do i place a scope developed for a dovetail on a old 22 bolt with out any sort of mounting mechanism ?
my grandpa gave me an old 22 bolt action rifle and i purchased a tasco rimfire scope for it. it says its produced to fit 3/8 dovetail receivers but on the gun there is no kind of receiver at all. i was asking yourself if you can basically get the dovetail receiver its self to place on the gun or what.

Answer by bamavol
the receiver is the element of the rifle that consists of the bolt and the barrel is attached to it
the 3/8″ dovetail receivers note is in reference to the truth that a lot of .22s come with the receiver grooved so the scope rings can be attached directly to the receiver of the rifle with no getting to buy a base
I think your ideal bet is to take it to a gunsmith and have him drill and tap the receiver to mount a base (or there could be a certain base for your rifle)

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful Fit Mosin Nagant M91-30 rifle, November 26, 2010 By PacoLips – Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: NcStar 1″ Ring-3/8′ Dovetail-Medium (RB25) (Sports) These will mount a 1″ scope to a Mosin Nagant M91-30 rifle. You must remove the stock rear sight of the rifle and these will fit the base under the rear sight. After mounting an NcSTAR® 2 – 7×32 mm AO Pistol Scope on my Mosin Nagant with these mounts, I did not have to remove the front sights and the scope did not interfere with the action or loading of the rifle. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful Pleasantly surprised!, January 10, 2012 By Liberalismiscommunismbythedrink (The free state of Texas) – Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: NcStar 1″ Ring-3/8′ Dovetail-Medium (RB25) (Sports) I bought these to mount a 3-9X40 scope to a Marlin 22 magnum rifle. I was surprised by the quality of these low cost rings. They work well, and the ‘medium’ size is perfect to keep the wide (40mm) front of the scope from touching the iron sight of the rifle by 1/8″. The tape inside the rings hold the scope snuggly, but it does compress a little after a while, so the bolts need to be re-tightened.An allen wrench that fits the bolts is included. HI i have a question in relation to mill dot scopes and i hope u? can help . iv noticed that some mill dot scopes have bigger mill dots than others as im thinking of getting one for long range plinking but need to know if the smaller mill dots on the hawks eclipse 6-24×50 for eg are half the value than a hunting scopes dots i hope u understand my question in other words are air rifle mill dots smaller than rim or center fire mill scopes
regards
Cracking video!! Well explained? fmg
I just purchased a Stoeger x20 Suppressor with a Leapers 3-12×40 scope and their recommended 1″ Tube, Max Strength See-Thru Weaver/Picatinny Rings mount which is a 4? screw mount. I’ve been having a heck of a time zeroing it in at 7-8 yds. For the first half, it was shooting to the left and I’d have to crank the settings to get it on target. So, I then tried reversing the mount and sure enough, it started shooting way to the right. Bottom line, the mounts can’t be centered properly….
I have a bsa lightning xl and because of the irregular mount size no average mount would do the? job. Got some bkl mounts and it’s now shooting like a dream. Highly recommended.
great vid .. changing my mounts to BKL?
can a guy use a normal rifle scope on a piston? action pellet rifle,or will this damage the scope?
You’l like? them. As I have a springer at the moment I can’t use mine (single strap).
Nice one thanks for? this video and your reply. I have ordered a pair of single strap sets.
Yes. I had Sportsmatch mounts on my AA S400 though. Any mount that is level will do. I had the same trouble with my MTC supplied mounts some time ago. The double strap BKL’s can be a touch? expensive, on a PCP a single strap set will be just fine.
Hi mate I get some trouble with my Air Arms Mpr at times, shooting to the left at distance. Looking at the mounts I had? with my Mtc Viper they seem to cant slightly to the left. Will a good set of these mounts sort this?
It depends on the rifle, sorry to say I simply don;t know.
I have had a 50mm AO scope fitted to one rifle with? med height mounts..
Depends how high the dovetail is above the barrel.
Personaly I prefer to keep the scope as low as possible, that might not suit others though.
got a? 42mm AO scope, which mount will i use..high or medium? thanks sir
The metric is 2 – 2.5 – 3mm & allways in single nubers or .5 as well.
The numbers are mm’s
Imperial is parts of an inch 1/32″ – 1/16″ – 3/32″ – 1/8″ upto whatever.
The first number is how many of? a division & the second number is what division of an inch it is..
thanks yer i dont like using allen keys cause they allways round? so i bought a good rachet screwdriver and got the hex heads to fit in it but i wasnt sure if i got the correct size.
is imperial for 2, 2.5, 3mm etc and metric for 1/4,1/8th etc i think i am on the correct but hopefully you will know what i mean
All the ones I have are pre take over ones & they were supplied with the allen key, imperial size.
I don’t know what screws are used now Talon make them or if the allen key is still? supplied.
Pretty sure you should get the allen key with them
