HiViz Ruger Mark II & III / Browning BuckMark Fiber Optic Sight Brief Description
HiViz handgun sights have been redesigned. With an all-new square profile, sight image acquisition time is reduced. Serrations on the rear of the sight base combine with a slightly recessed LitePipe to eliminate the “halo impact” widespread to numerous sights and boost the durability of the toughest LitePipes accessible. This new design and style is also much more holster friendly.
HiViz Ruger Mark II & III / Browning BuckMark Fiber Optic Sight Essential Functions
- Ruger Mark II/III and Browning Buckmark front sight
- Contains six LitePipes in red and green .080 inch diameter
- Also fits Ruger Singl Six with adjustable rear sights
- Fits heavy barrel guns including 22/45 and Browning Buckmark pistols (except Challenge 5.five Target and Field models
- HiViz recommends gunsmith installation for all dovetail sights. Due to manufacturing tolerances, some firearms may demand further fitting.

I discovered a Millet red dot scope at Academy Sports in McKinney, Texas for .00 sale value, typical price .00. It comes with an adjustable size dot. I mounted it to my Ruger Mk III using the factory scope base. The only difficulty is that this setup would not match in my Black Dog Machine Holster. So I got out my handy dandy Dremel Multi Max and reduce out a piece of the holster just a hair more than 1.25″ in length. The scoped pistol fits the holster now. I will post an update on this combination of pistol, scope, and holster modification, next time I go to the range. Concerns? Comments? Feel cost-free to post a response.

I know alot of owners have problems on whether to purchase or not due to confusion on the description. I called HiViz and spoke to Trevor. He said that Ruger @ Browning both have the same models that the sight is listed to work for. The exceptions listed only apply to the Browning models that are listed in quotes. This sight will work on any Ruger heavy barrel models, ignore the quoted models for Ruger applications. Hope this helps @ yes I bought one, will be putting it on my Ruger 5.5 heavy barrel Target 22/45 Mark III. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? | Comment
15 of 15 people found the following review helpful Great addition, same site sold by Ruger under their name, November 4, 2011 By mbj (MD United States) – This review is from: HiViz Ruger Mark II & III / Browning BuckMark Fiber Optic Sight (Sports) This HiViz Model HRB2007 fiber optic front sight is also sold under by Sturm Ruger under their branding as the “Ruger HRB1001 Sight System” for Mark II / III heavy barrel pistols. I emailed HiViz and verified that the two are the same. Only the printing on the packaging differs. It comes with the sight, a mounting screw, 6 fiber optic tubes (3 red, 3 green), a clever little plastic holder with a swivel bottom for the spare tubes, and a little plastic key (thin flat blade) that is used to release / change the tubes and is held to the container by a ball-link key chain. It does not include the little 3/32″ Allen wrench (hex key) the new mounting screw provided requires. This must force a number of purchasers to use the old (flat-head) screw and seems like an unnecessary bit of cost cutting assuming that a hex key only would add pennies to the overall package.I installed it on a Ruger Mark II Bull Barrel. Installation is simple – unscrew the old sight and mount the new one using either the screw from the original sight (flat head) or the one provided (hex). I tried both. Both worked fine. I preferred the new one because it sat a bit flusher (thicker head) and looked a little nicer. The new sight is the same height as the original Ruger one it replaces. This was my first fiber optic sight. Depending on the light, it can make quite a difference – from mild red to a real glowing dot. In bright daylight it looks pretty much like the original sight – square black profile, though the dot is still a bit more visible than the original black post. There’s no real downside from a site picture standpoint – only benefit. That said, I have had trouble with the screw loosening and backing out after firing 50 to a hundred rounds. I had a the same trouble years ago with the screw of the original Ruger front sight. This, of course, renders the site useless if you can’t re-tighten it – Hence my annoyance that they don’t provide an Allen wrench for the initial installation that one can throw in the range box. (I carry a small screwdriver, but not a hex key set. I ended up having to pack up and go home.) I fixed the original Ruger site years ago with a drop of LocTite 242 (blue) and never had a problem again. However, this replacement site backed out twice, even after cleaning it well and using LocTite. The 3rd time, I globbed it on a bit heaver – both under the screw head and all over the threads, and cranked it a little tighter. That seemed to do the trick, though I’m also looking for a hardware store that has a bin of single hex keys, since I don’t want to carry or cannibalize an entire set in my range box. that is a pistol case? I got from Cheaper Than Dirt.
the holster is adjustable for high and low ride options with detachable belt mounting plates. The belt mounting plate had no effect on? wether or not the pistol fit the holster. What did have an effect was the factory scope base, so i cut away the part of the holster that was in the way.
get the high ride version of the black dog hmm holster and it? will fit on your ruger mark iii with scope..
I got the first sight back from Millet. I have not mounted it on anything yet. We will see how it holds up. The case is a nylon one I got at cheaper than dirt. I do not recall the brand name. I have a second millet sight that has worked out great so far (over 200? rounds fired).
Very nice set up there, I just got got the? millett red dot in silver for my ruger mark iii hunter stainless and it looks bad ass. I saw that in your other video you had an issue after firing 20 rounds through it but looks like a replacement was sent out and all is good now. I was worried a bit, but I will see how mines holds out. Question, what is the fabric case you have there in the video? Nice mod on the holster btw.
I used this holster at the range today. No issues other than a slight rattle. I did have to loosen the tension? screw, though. I can definitely recomend this holster.
