I noticed there is a plain SPS version, and then there is a SPS varmint? What is the distinction in between the two? I want a .308.

Yeah Yeah — I know what your pondering…. Whats an further 1 to 1 1/2 pounds?… Soon after an afternoon in the field that additional pound or 2 will really feel way heavier…… Don’t forget when you add a scope, ammo and sling your going to be hunting at ten pounds or mode… That tiny bit extra weigh will get old actual rapid…..
On the other hand if this will be a bench rest target rifle then the further weight isnt an concern – so the SPS Varmint may be what you want… Its a tiny bit a lot more accurate……

I was a little skeptical hearing that most low dollar scopes above 12x magnification start to blur. Not the case with this scope. The reticle unilluminated is very crisp and defined with clear secondary range/elevation crosshairs for 150, 200, 300, & 400 yards with the center being at 100. I also like that the slightest bit of light will illuminate the reticle. The illumination of the reticle is also extremely crisp as well and only the center crosshairs along with the ranged crosses are illuminated. Not the crosses leading to the outside of the cylinder. If I had to change one thing about it, it would be to include flip-up lens covers. Other than that its very good. We both have two mosin nagants 91/30, so you know about the recoil on those babies. Long story short, we went through about 200 rounds per rifle, and not a single thing went wrong with that scope. All i know that after that range day, i will be picking up one myself. It has a good lens, crisp and is not blur at x16. I have been doing alot of searching for mine, but it looks like this is a best scope for the dollar that i was able to find, simple, tough, accurate. The only thing i wish it would have target turrets on it, but the scope’s turrets were not an issue at all. Overall – great scope for the money that looks like will last awhile. This review is from: Bushnell Banner 4-16x 40mm Illuminated CF 500 Reticle Rifle Scope (Sports) I bought this scpope to put on a marlin 17hmr and it is supurb the I took this scope out with and another in the evening to see how clear they were at dusk(the other was a nikon prostaff 3-9×50)And this scope was just as clear and almost as bright as the 240$ nikon and I was a able to see a target at 60 yards at 6:45pm which was well past the technical sunset time. I simply love this scope the illuminated reticle in it was very bight and in the evening or morning putting it on 1 was plenty (there are 5 setings for bothe green or red) I would definitelly recomend it. its a great rifle, i have one in the 30-06, shoots well, got my first deer last year with it! at about 100 yards, went in very cold weather with this riffle, worked like a charm, small light easy to carry, recoil is not nearly as bad as you woul dthink for such a small riffle. i would highly recomment this riffle! if you have? the money and want a high end riffle thisis a great riffle, my only con was the price though

maybe.i have cdl and is very smooth but the 7mm mag is heck of a round to much recoil at the range but in the woods no problem because of the hunting fever i? guess..also the bdl is nice in stainless maybe you should try it out if u want..
I just purchased a Nikon Buckmaster scope (Silver) to go on my new Browning Stainless Stalker in 30-06.
For the record, there is NO comparison? between the Remington 700 (JUNK!) and the Browning. That’s like comparing a Ford Pinto to a Lamborghini. The only people who would attempt to compare them have simply never handled or fired the Browning. If they did handle a Browning they’d soon realize what a piece of mis-fit, fires when the safety is released, SHIT Remington has become.
it matters the remington 700 does not seem to have the same spring tention on certain rifles like the sps varmint is like nothing but the sps tactical i found was? very gritty to me

i found the bolt alot more smoother? than the remington 700′s bolt
I personally have the Remington SPS Tactical rifle chambered in a .308 which I love, but you have to be prepared for the extra weight, so think about how you will be hunting and/or shooting. It has a heavy floating barrel at only 20″ long but shoots great coupled with the match ammo I use. This is not technically a “hunting” setup but I shoot for accuracy and practice longer range shots for when I hunt coyotes.
